Power Line Communication Operation

(Standard 6-pin header connector for RS232C compatible interface)

If connected to central lighting control system, allows:

Setting nominal power to economy usage (less than 100%).
Setting dimming to any desired level (10-100%).
Controlling entry into dimming and return to nominal.
Continuous status monitoring allows malfunction diagnostic.
Out of operation mode indication:

Burned out lamp
Wire disconnected
Ballast malfunction
Ballast overheating
Normal operation mode indication:

Starting
Warming
Dimming

Manual Operation

If a central system to command the ballast is not available, the ballast could be preset via a dip-switch provided on the ballast.

Dimming Level can be preset by Dip switch to 40%, 50%, 60%, 80% or 100%  (no dimming).
The Dip switch setting permits dimming delay time setting in one of the following ways:

By external command through an additional wire from the central cabinet or one of the phases.
Internal timer can be set to dim the ballast 6 hours after power "turn on" at winter time, or 3 hours after power turn on at summer time.
The operation level can be set by the Dip switch to 1 of the following:

100% for normal operation.
87.5% for economy operation.

Maintenance Diagnostics

Two light indicators

Orange light - power on
Green/yellow/red light - changing color

Color of the light
Meaning
Green Normal operation
Yellow Dimming mode
Red Failure
Black/no light or none of the positions described below Ballast failure (provided power is on and the orange light is on)

Green Yellow Red
ON constantly The lamp is working in the nominal mode The lamp is working in the dimming mode Ballast malfunction
Slow flashing 0.5 Hz Ballast is trying to strike the lamp The lamp is not burning due to ballast overheating (during operation >95o C, during start >70o C) or waiting for lamp to cool The ballast failed to strike the lamp because the lamp circuit is disconnected
Quick flashing 2.0 Hz The lamp is warming up The lamp is in the process of going over to the dimming mode Old lamp (cannot keep nominal power). The ballast cuts off power to lamp
